So many members of Fix Auto Airdrie's staff volunteered to help out at a brunch for Ronald McDonald House Charities guests in January, that a second event had to be scheduled.
“The response from our team was overwhelming,” Crystin Bulai, general manager at Fix Auto Airdrie, said.
Ronald McDonald House Charities provides accommodation and support for families with children receiving medical care across North America. In total, all 13 members of the facility's staff took turns preparing the brunches, which were held on January 24 and 25.
"It wasn't just our team," Bulai said. "Most of us brought our partners, too."
Along with volunteering, the location donated $500 in cash and provided about $600 in toys for the charity’s Magic Rooms. “We couldn’t go before Christmas, but we know gifts are important year-round,” Bulai said.
Bulai added that local businesses play in their communities and the importance of workplace culture.
“You have to be part of the community. It’s what sets you apart from any othercbrick-and-mortar shop. When people are working in a healthy team environment, they have the capacity to give back."
"It all comes down to leading by example.”
