Toronto, Canada -- CARSTAR Canada is celebrating raising a total of $6 million for cystic fibrosis programs over the past 28 years.
The banner began raising money for cystic fibrosis research, care and advocacy in 1997 after a franchise partner’s granddaughter was diagnosed with the disease.
Dave Foster, senior vice-president of operations and development at CARSTAR Canada, said franchise partners, employees and customers demonstrate “remarkable generosity and dedication” and that the milestone reinforces support for future fundraising.
The collision repair network’s efforts have expanded from a single shop initiative to events held across North America driven by franchise operators, employees, customers and community groups. Fundraising activities range from charity car washes and golf tournaments to car shows, barbecues, walks and in-store donation drives. More than $390,000 was raised this year.
Kate White, director of philanthropy and partnerships at Cystic Fibrosis Canada, said the contributions “fuel innovative research, enhance access to world-class care and drive advocacy that brings us closer to a future without CF.”
