On the Move: Fix appoints Mary de Guzman as ESG director

Toronto, Ontario -- The Fix Network is appointing Mary de Guzman director of environmental, social and governance.

In a social media post, the newly appointed executive wrote: “Thrilled to announce that I’ve joined Fix Network as [director of ESG]! I’ve always believed that sustainability is not just a strategy — it’s a shared responsibility."

Previously the director of ESG for Sleep Country, de Guzman has 18 years of health, safety and environmental experience in Canada and the United States. In the new position, de Guzman will lead and drive the implementation of Fix Network’s ESG strategy and initiatives across corporate and franchise operations, ensuring outcomes that align with stakeholder interests and organizational objectives.

Her post drew widespread support from sustainability and safety professionals. Daryll O’Keefe, vice-president of strategic business development for North America at the Fix Network, wrote: “Welcome to the family! Fix has been an ESG champion from its beginning. It’s time to document that journey, enhance the plan and tell the story!!”

The Quebec-based franchise has a reputation for being a leader on ESG issues within the collision industry with its environmental efforts stretching back at least two decades. In 2006, Fix Auto beginning to retrofit its facilities to reduce volatile organic compound emissions from paint use. 

The network has since built out recycling programs across its shops, recovering metals, glass, plastics, bumpers, tires and cardboard, while maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for hazardous waste such as paint slurries, solvents, lubricants and batteries. It also encourages paperless documentation through electronic file systems to cut office waste.
