On the Move: Auto Shield appoints Scott Ashby as SVP of operation

Ashby

Toronto, Ontario -- Auto Shield has promoted industry veteran Scott Ashby to senior vice-president of operations as the Oakville-based claims administration services provider expands its offerings across Canada and into emerging U.S. markets.

Ashby brings more than 30 years of experience in OEM, warranty and dealer-services roles, including leadership positions at Hyundai Capital Canada, Toyota Financial Services, Sym-Tech Dealer Services, Safe-Guard Products Canada, Nissan and Ford of Canada. He began his career as a Class A licensed technician and holds an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and a BBA in automotive marketing from Northwood University.

Auto Shield provides protection products and claims-administration services designed to support dealers and their customers through the entire ownership cycle. The company develops and manages program that cover mechanical breakdowns, appearance protection and other vehicle ownership needs, while offering guided claims support and a customer-concierge model that prioritizes clarity and convenience.

One service Auto Shield offers is third-party GAP insurance -- which covers difference between a vehicle’s market value and the remaining loan or lease balance when a total loss or theft occurs. The company positions independent GAP coverage as a value-driven alternative to traditional insurers, noting that third-party providers can offer lower premiums, flexible terms and a more streamlined claims experience.

In his new role, Ashby serves as the strategic leader responsible for optimizing claims performance and customer-concierge support. The position focuses on delivering white-glove experiences, strengthening Auto Shield’s reputation and ensuring long-term sustainability. He will guide the company’s work to leverage automation and AI to enhance customer touch points, drive innovation and sharpen its competitive edge.
