Pembroke, Ontario -- CARSTAR Pembroke was the title sponsor of this year’s Old School Championship Bass Series on Round Lake in Pembroke, bringing together 26 teams for a full day on the water.

“It gets our name out there. We’re not a large community and there aren’t many bodyshops left out here. It helps to get to know people in the community and let them know we support them and their interests.” said CARSTAR Pembroke administrator, Lorie Boone.

The series ran from late June through early September, with CARSTAR Pembroke providing gift certificates, as well as cash prizes across the season. This is the second year the series has been held.

Boone's son, Thomas Durocher, runs the tournament.

“It has been getting bigger each year. [Thomas] used to go fishing each year in tournaments — when all of the ones he participated in ended, he started his own,” said Boone. “As long as people are interested in fishing – he’ll keep running it.”

The participants returned after a hot day on the water, weighed-in their fish and received a gift bag from the CARSTAR Pembroke team. The first place team weighed in 9.02 kg of fish.

Boone emphasized the importance of participating in local events.

“It was great to be out in the community and see the fishers enjoy their day"

Boone said CARSTAR Pembroke is looking forward to sponsoring the 2026 tournament.
