Speedy Brampton East owner Graham Johnston has received an honorary Girl Guides badge after the shop helped sell Girl Guide cookies on behald of a local troupe.
The recognition came when Girl Guides delivered thank-you cards to the shop.
The connection began through a neighbour on assistant manager Rhiannon Johnston's street whose daughter is part of the Girl Guides. Since then, the shop has been selling boxes of cookies during the seasonal campaigns.
"Who could resist a sweet treat at checkout? I surely cannot," Rhiannon said.
The shop says its customers have enjoyed the cookie sales, which have provided an opportunity to support the Girl Guides by picking up a treat during a visit to the shop.
"I'm pretty sure our neighbour was recognized as one of the top sellers," said Rhiannon.
Speedy Brampton East plans to continue selling Girl Guide cookies during the spring and fall seasons, making it an ongoing tradition.
