Velocity Vehicle Group has acquired New West Truck Centres, adding three bodyshops and expanding its Western Canadian dealership network to 24 locations.
The transaction, announced Nov. 2, brings New West’s operations in Calgary, Balzac, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Taber, Medicine Hat and Cranbrook into Surrey-based Velocity Truck Centres Canada. Approximately 300 New West employees are joining the network, bringing its Canadian workforce to about 1,000.
New West’s collision repair facilities are in Calgary, Lethbridge and Cranbrook. Their services extend beyond heavy trucks to passenger vehicles, cargo vans and medium-duty vehicles.
“The same teams will still be there,” said Scott Zeppenfeldt, chief operating officer of Velocity Truck Centers, in a press release.
Zeppenfeldt said customers would have access to additional parts, service and support through the expanded network.
New West owner Ed Stahl said the family had gotten to know Velocity’s management team during the sale process.
“We’re confident they’ll carry on the quality and service New West customers count on,” Stahl said.
The Calgary bodyshop, at 5925 79 Ave. S.E., handles insurance collision repairs, restoration, truck colour changes and damage ranging from minor repairs to heavy collisions.
In July 2024, New West announced expanded collision repair services for light- and medium-duty vehicles, including cars, cargo vans and Sprinter vans. The Calgary facility has 13.7-metre [45-foot] paint booths and a PPG colour-matching system with camera technology.
The Lethbridge bodyshop operates at 4110 Ninth Ave. N., alongside Freightliner and Western Star sales, parts and service operations. Its services include collision repairs for all makes and models.
In Cranbrook, the bodyshop at 1125 Cobham Ave. W. handles automotive and heavy-duty collision repairs, including insurance and customer-pay work. Its services include fabrication, welding, alignment, custom painting and on-site colour mixing and blending.
The Cranbrook facility has a 13.7-metre [45-foot] paint booth and technicians licensed for automotive and heavy-duty repairs.
Previously known as Rocky Mountain Collision, the Cranbrook bodyshop became part of New West through the October 2023 acquisition of Dunlop Truck Centres. It subsequently adopted the New West Truck Centres Body Shop name. Invoicing transferred to New West Truck Centres (BC) Inc. on Nov. 1, 2024.
The New West purchase follows Velocity’s acquisition of First Truck Centre and P&R Truck Centre in 2023, which established a 17-location Canadian network.
Velocity Vehicle Group is a commercial vehicle dealership operator based in Whittier, Calif. Founded by Brad Fauvre and Conan Barker in 1998, the business has operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia.
