Two Edmonton collision repair operations have merged under the ACX Modern name, combining more than 2,775 square metres (30,000 square feet) of production and repair space.
“Integrating ACX Modern and Crosstown Autobody is a key milestone in strengthening our Edmonton operations. By bringing both teams together, we’re specializing our repair processes to deliver faster, higher-quality service across every vehicle segment,” said Brandi Brydges, director of operations, private region west.
Modern specializes in luxury vehicles, structural repairs and refinishing. The combined operation will serve luxury, electric, domestic, import and fleet vehicles.
Modern was founded in Edmonton in 1968 by Karl Heinz Wetzlaugk and Herta Schmidt. AutoCanada, ACX’s parent company, acquired the business earlier this year. Located approximately one kilometre from Crosstown, the proximity of the two facilities created a strategic opportunity to bring the operations together.
The merger includes equipment upgrades and training across both facilities. Manufacturer certifications include BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Genesis, Tesla, Rivian, Bentley, Subaru, GMC, Hyundai, Kia, Volvo and Nissan. Signage and building upgrades are underway, and an office renovation is scheduled for early 2027.
The Modern and Crosstown merger builds on ACX’s growing presence in Edmonton. AutoCanada acquired Doug’s Place Strathcona in October 2025 and Southgate on Sept. 2, 2026. Southgate added approximately 700 square metres (7,540 square feet) of repair space and certifications covering 10 manufacturer brands. ACX now has four locations serving Edmonton and the surrounding area.
The merger follows AutoCanada’s Sept. 29 announcement of a review that could lead to a sale or separation of all or part of ACX. No completion date has been set, and the review may end without a transaction.
