The winner of the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre of Kelowna’s annual summer car raffle will be announced next week, and tickets are still available for purchase.
Lift Auto Group and CSN Collision Centres donated this year’s grand prize — a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan 4MOTION — and 100% of the ticket proceeds will go directly to the CYAC to support children and youth who have experienced child abuse and neglect.
“Our organization directly supports children who are impacted by child abuse and neglect and their safe family members. The only way we’re able to do our work is through fundraising,” said Ginny Becker, CEO of the CYAC of Kelowna, in the centre’s YouTube video. “One of the ways we fundraise every year is by raffling off a car in the summer. It was very generously donated to us by CSN Collision Lift Auto Group.”
According to the CYAC of Kelowna, one in three Canadian children is significantly impacted by abuse before the age of 15.
Last year, the CYAC supported 316 children, their siblings and safe caregivers through coordinated wrap-around support services. The CYAC is a community- and grant-funded organization, relying on funding from government agencies, private foundations, corporate partnerships and community-based fundraising initiatives to continue its vision of providing a community of hope where children feel safe, believed and nurtured.
"Lift Auto Group is proud to support the CYAC's crucial work," said Lift Auto president and CEO Mark Reineking, following last year's show. "This event not only raises funds, but it raises awareness and helps ensure kids in need actually find their way to the support they deserve.”
Only 3,125 raffle tickets are available. The raffle sale closes on Tuesday, July 21, at noon, and the winning ticket will be drawn at 12:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here for $25 each. The five-ticket pack for $100 has already sold out.
40 volunteers staff the event each year. “The generosity, teamwork and enthusiasm of our volunteers are what make this event truly special; their commitment embodies the community spirit that defines Lift Auto Group,” said Joanna Hamilton, Lift Auto vice-president of marketing.
Additional raffle sponsors include Acera Insurance, AkzoNobel, BASF, Colour Compassion Corporation, Jim Pattison Lease and Lawson Lundell LLP.
This was Lift Auto Group's fourth year hosting the event and the fourth year donating a vehicle to the CYAC. Collectively, Lift Auto Group has raised more than $200,000 for the CYAC of Kelowna to date.
