Kenora, Ontario -- CARSTAR Kenora brought the world of autobody repair to life for local high school students at the Red Seal Ready Expo on Thursday. The team visited St. Thomas Aquinas High School to connect with students exploring careers in the skilled trades, demonstrating first-hand what a career in autobody repair looks like.
“These events are something CARSTAR Kenora looks forward to every year because they provide a meaningful opportunity to promote the skilled trades, especially autobody repair, which isn’t always top of mind for high school students when they’re considering future career paths,” said Katie Mahon, Office Manager and ADAS Technician.
Joining Katie at the expo were the shop’s lead painter and a certified auto body technician. Together, they showcased the range of roles available in the collision repair industry and highlighted female representation in the trade. Students had the chance to take part in interactive activities such as ‘guess the part,’ ‘match the paint,’ and ‘fix the dent,’ gaining hands-on experience and a closer look at the skills and precision involved in autobody repair.
“It was truly rewarding to connect with the students and see their curiosity grow,” Mahon said. “Watching them engage, ask questions, and have fun while learning more about the industry reinforced why events like this are so important and why we continue to participate each year.”
