Hunter Engineering has secured OEM approval from Kia for its Ultimate ADAS system across Kia’s North American dealer and collision repair network, marking the first endorsement from a Korean automaker for the alignment and static calibration platform.
The approval expands Hunter’s roster of participating automakers to eight, joining Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Nissan, Infiniti and Subaru. The Ultimate ADAS system is designed to reduce calibration errors associated with manual layouts by combining alignment equipment with guided target placement technology that provides around-the-vehicle coverage.
Central to the system are gimbal-mounted lasers that replace traditional string, plumb bob and tape measure setups. Hunter reports the approach can reduce setup time by up to 70% for certain procedures while improving placement precision. The laser gimbals and onscreen guidance automatically compensate for non-level floors, monitor for placement errors and confirm accuracy through laser measurements at each step of the process.
Ultimate ADAS also generates calibration documentation, including target placements, procedures and before-and-after measurements. The records are accessible through HunterNet 2, the company’s customer portal.
Hunter indicates the system now supports both dynamic and static calibration coverage for 19 OEMs, encompassing more than 7,400 static ADAS procedures. The company estimates this coverage accounts for more than 90% of vehicles currently in operation, reflecting continued growth in OEM-approved calibration technologies as ADAS-equipped vehicles become the industry standard.
