New Approach: Ascential launches ADAS calibrations subscription

Assential

Ascential Technologies, a Michigan-based engineering and automation company serving the automotive and industrial sectors, has launched a subscription-based model for advanced driver assistance system calibrations that shifts collision repair shops away from large upfront equipment purchases and toward a monthly fee structure.

The Shelby Township, Mich.-based company announced its new Calibration-as-a-Service offering Feb. 19, saying the model allows shops to access Burke Porter ADAS calibration equipment through a monthly subscription combined with a per-use fee rather than a capital purchase. Burke Porter is Ascential’s test and measurement division focused on OEM-trusted calibration systems.

“Our new subscription model gives shops access to OEM-trusted equipment and support without the large upfront investment traditionally required,” said Brunno Moretti, president of ADAS Aftermarket by Burke Porter. “We view this launch as an opportunity to alleviate barriers of entry and help both large and small shop owners, including calibration companies starting out in the industry or expanding.”

Under the program, equipment is installed at the customer’s location and supported through enterprise-level service. The company said the subscription includes access to hardware and software updates and support across legacy and newer vehicle model years.

The release said the model is best suited to facilities performing at least one calibration per day.

Ascential also highlighted its proprietary calOS software, which guides technicians through calibration procedures step by step. The company said the system is designed to standardize processes and support consistent results as demand for ADAS calibration continues to grow.
