Toronto, Ontario -- John Bean has expanded its Tru-Point vehicle coverage with new calibration variations, widening the system’s support for advanced driver assistance system service procedures.
The Tru-Point tool performs an alignment check before every ADAS calibration, allowing technicians to identify vehicles that fail the initial assessment and address issues before calibration begins. When paired with a John Bean aligner, the system can also open additional service opportunities for shops, including ADAS calibration and wheel alignment work.
The system measures a vehicle’s tire contact patch and compensates for floor inconsistencies, placing calibration targets using a three-dimensional coordinate system based on the plane beneath the vehicle. It can also accommodate vehicle movement between calibrations and complete procedures directly on the alignment rack, depending on rack setup and space.
“With ADAS becoming standard in new vehicles, the connection between alignment and safety has grown stronger,” said Jordan Krebs, product manager for alignment and ADAS at John Bean. He added that the growing need for expanded coverage and ongoing updates is shaping how shops approach ADAS service.
Krebs noted that John Bean’s background in alignment technology supports that shift. “John Bean has long advanced the alignment industry through innovations such as 3D imaging and OEM-specified measurement protocols,” he said. “This foundation supports today’s ADAS-equipped vehicles with accuracy and reliability.”
He said the rise of features such as lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and emergency braking has underscored the need for precision in calibration. “For more than 100 years, John Bean has been a trusted name in alignment technology, providing the expertise that underpins today’s accurate and reliable ADAS calibrations,” said Krebs.
