Auto Tech: ADAS market primed for global growth

Lidar

Toronto, Ontario -- The next-generation automotive computing equipment market is expected to grow from about about US$470 billion in 2026 to about US$1.19 trillion in 2036, according to a new study from Research and Markets.

The study says cars are turning into ever more advanced AI supercomputers, a trend that will continue through 2036. It says ADAS, autonomous driving, in-cabin monitoring and connected systems will become more common through the period.

The report also says the number of advanced driver assistance sensors will continue to increase as well, with cameras, radar and LiDAR becoming especially common.

By 2027, LiDAR suites are expected to add about US$200 and US$500 to the cost of new vehicles. Chinese LiDAR makers, who currently hold about 60 percent of the global market, are expected to remain dominant over the next decade.
