Four Canadian auto parts suppliers earned six awards in General Motors’ 2025 Supplier of the Year program.

GM Canada announced the Canadian winners May 21 as part of GM’s 34th annual Supplier of the Year awards program. In total, the company recognized 103 Supplier of the Year and Overdrive winners from 14 countries.

The Canadian winners were Martinrea for structures, Linamar for forgings, Magna for frames, exterior mouldings, claddings and extruded plastics and rubber sealing and rubber extruded and Magna Powertrain for transfer cases.

“On average, General Motors recognizes about a hundred suppliers out of up to 20,000 globally. It’s something to strive for,” said Shilpan Amin, General Motors global chief procurement and supply chain officer. “This motivates our suppliers for continuous improvement, and it recognizes their teams and all the hard work they do that results in a better product for our customers.”

Magna also issued a release on the awards. Eric Wilds, Magna chief strategy and commercial officer, said the recognition reflects the company’s work across several product areas.

“This recognition reflects the strength of our teams and the breadth of solutions we deliver for GM,” Wilds said. “Being recognized across five creativity teams reflects what’s possible when teams are aligned early and work transparently through change — the way GM consistently engages with us. We’re proud of the role our teams play in helping GM deliver for its customers.”

GM Canada’s announcement also highlighted the OEM’s Canadian operations, including manufacturing facilities, a multi-campus advanced tech and software centre, parts distribution network and corporate offices.

GM has invested $3.3 billion in Canadian manufacturing operations since 2020, including $1.5 billion at Oshawa Assembly and $828 million at St. Catharines Propulsion.
