Toronto, Ontario – This year’s Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo took place from March 7th to 9th at the International Centre in Toronto, Ont., and Collision Repair magazine was there to capture the action.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the event showcased the vibrant and diverse automotive culture that thrives in our community. For those of us in the collision repair industry, the event was both educational and inspiring. Observing the meticulous restorations and customizations underscored the importance of our work in preserving automotive history and ensuring vehicles are both safe and visually stunning. The innovative techniques and materials showcased provide valuable insights that we can incorporate into our daily practices.
One of the standout attractions was the presence of Chip Foose, the legendary car designer and star of Overhaulin’. Additionally, Mike Hall and Avery Shoaf, affectionately known as the Rust Bros from Rust Valley Restorers, entertained attendees with their stories and insights into car restoration — even taking the time to answer questions from the crowd, offering a deeper look into their restoration process and industry expertise. There were huge lineups to get photos and autographs with Chip Foose, Mike Hall, and Avery Shoaf, proving just how much of a draw these automotive icons were.
The show floor was a treasure trove for automotive enthusiasts. Hall 1 featured incredible, mostly ‘first time shown’ Canadian-built and owned vehicles, each reflecting the passion and craftsmanship of their creators. In Hall 2, various car clubs displayed their pride and joy, fostering a sense of community among attendees.
The Motorama Expo not only highlighted the rich history of automotive design but also emphasized the evolving trends shaping the future. From classic restorations to modern modifications, the event was a testament to the enduring passion for all things automotive. As collision repair professionals and enthusiasts, attending such events reinforces our commitment to excellence and our love for the craft.
