
Toronto, Ontario -- General Motors is appointing Jack Uppal as president and managing director of GM Canada. The Canadian-born executive officially take over command on Feb. 1, 2026.
In his new position, Uppal will report to Duncan Aldred, senior vice-president and president of GM North America. He will replace Kristian Aquilina, who will move into a global role as vice-president of Cadillac.

Uppal is currently president and managing director of GM Africa & Middle East. During that assignment, GM has recorded volume and market share gains while maintaining financial performance in a competitive region. During his tenure, he has has been credited with expanding propulsion offerings, growing in-vehicle connected services and leading a turnaround of GM Egypt that returned Chevrolet to a market-leading position.
“Jack’s proven global leadership experience and deep knowledge of Canada will be instrumental for building a strong future for GM in Canada,” Aldred said.
Uppal has spent 24 years at General Motors. He began his career with GM Canada in 2001 and later held senior roles across China, India, Singapore and the Middle East, with experience spanning sales, marketing, customer experience, strategic planning and brand management
