Toronto, Ontario -- Driven Brands is appointing Mo Khalid as executive vice-president and chief operating officer.
Khalid most recently served as executive vice-president and president of Take 5, where he oversaw significant growth. Tim Austin, currently chief operating officer of Take 5, will succeed him as president of the brand.
“I am honoured to be appointed chief operating officer of Driven Brands,” he said. “I look forward to working with our employees and franchisees to enhance data-driven decisions, operate methodically, and expand margins across all of our brands, while continuing to support Tim and the Take 5 team.”
The move will follow a period of transition for Driven Brands and positions Khalid to bring his operational expertise to a wider portfolio of automotive service businesses.
“Mo is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of success,” said Danny Rivera, president and chief executive officer of Driven Brands. He credited Khalid with expanding Take 5 to more than 1,200 locations and [helping it to achieve] system-wide sales [that surpassed] $1.5 billion as of June 28, 2025. “In his new role, Mo will help drive that same operational rigor across all of Driven Brands.”
Khalid re-joined the company in 2023 as group president of its maintenance segment, which included Take 5 Oil Change and Meineke. Earlier in his career, he also served as chief operating officer of Meineke and held senior roles at Great Wolf Resorts.
Driven Brands, based in Charlotte, N.C., operates about 4,800 locations across 14 countries and generates approximately $6.2 billion in annual system-wide sales.
