Western Winners: Skills B.C., Alberta and Manitoba results

The winners of the 2026 Skills Canada BC Provincial Competition, held April 16–17 event in Abbostford, have been announced.

Vancouver Community College swept the secondary autobody repair podium, with Sy Korf won gold, Daniel Martinez took silver and Clinton Do earned bronze. Korf entered the provincial competition as the defending national champion in secondary autobody repair, having won gold at the 2025 Skills Canada National Competition in Regina.

"We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of our students at the 32nd annual Skills Canada BC competition, where Team VCC earned 25 medals and achieved a podium sweep in secondary autobody repair," VCC officials wrote in a social media post. 

"These results highlight the dedication and technical expertise our students bring to their crafts, demonstrating the true impact of hands on learning under pressure."

In post-secondary autobody repair, Vladyslav Myko of Okanagan College (pictured) won gold. Martin Huynh and Alexander Raymond of Vancouver Community College placed second and third.

In automotive service, Madox Bell of Vancouver Community College won gold at the secondary level. Levi Mulligan of Comox Valley School District 71 took silver. Gabriel Rizo of Vancouver Community College won gold at the post-secondary level.

In car painting, Harkirat Vilkhu of Vancouver Community College won gold at the secondary level. Emily Frick of Okanagan College won gold at the post-secondary level. Olivia Pagnottaro of Vancouver Community College took silver and Shelby Gibson of the College of New Caledonia earned bronze.

In heavy vehicle technology, Nathan Munro of North Island College won gold. Olivier Gravel of Okanagan College took silver and Manvir Sangha of BCIT earned bronze.

In Manitoba, the provincial competition was held April 9 at Red River College Polytechnic.

Red River College Polytechnic led post-secondary automotive categories. In autobody repair, James Thompson won gold, followed by Manprit Chohan and Zetong Li. In automobile technology, Yang Yu won gold, with Ryan Brandt of the Manitoba Institute of Trade and Technology in second and Jose Lorenzo Alupay in third.

In car painting, Cassandra Foy, Tyler Koop and Ethan Oliver swept the podium. In heavy vehicle technology, Dylan Baird, Evan Moores and Jeffrey Reich took gold, silver and bronze, all from Red River College Polytechnic.

Secondary winners in Manitoba included Parker Martin of Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School in autobody repair, Riley Goldberg of Steinbach Regional Secondary School in automobile technology and Davis Schneider of Steinbach Regional Secondary School in car painting.

In Saskatchewan, the provincial competition was held March 27 in Regina.

Samuel Maier of Sask DLC Grenfell won gold in post-secondary autobody repair. Xavier Walz of Albert E. Peacock Collegiate won gold at the secondary level.

In automobile technology, Tiana Wulff of Saskatoon Motor Products won gold at the post-secondary level. Tyler Walker of Yorkton Regional High School won gold at the secondary level.

In car painting, Ciara Schollar of Albert E. Peacock Collegiate won gold at the secondary level.

Provincial gold medallists advance to the Skills Canada National Competition, scheduled for May 28–29 at the Enercare Centre in Toronto.
