Toronto, Ontario — GMC is currently recalling more than 70,000 2022-model-year Sierra pick-up trucks in the United States due to the risk of the vehicle’s grille trim flying off at high speeds.
At the moment, it is unclear how many vehicles are affected in Canada, although transport Canada is reviewing the issue.
In the United States, 70,768 vehicles are affected and specifically, the models with chrome-plated grilles.
Additionally, according to the automaker, on some models, several or all of the fasteners holding the grille could fracture.
Owners with affected vehicles will be contacted via mail, with the automaker currently ordering a stop-sale on all affected models.
In the meantime, owners are advised to watch out for any signs of rattling coming from their grille plate, lest they become victim to an unintentional flying car accessory.
