A Thornhill collision repair team has met with thousands of festivalgoers while supporting a three-day celebration of Taiwanese culture at Toronto’s waterfront.
Representatives from Simplicity Car Care Thornhill attended Toronto TAIWANfest as a Gold Sponsor. The free festival ran from August 28 to 30 at Harbourfront Centre.
“Great brands are built locally,” said Domenic Ieraci, CEO of Simplicity Car Care. “[I] love seeing our Thornhill team out in the community representing Simplicity Car Care at Toronto TAIWANfest.”
The 2026 festival was presented under the theme Islands in the Wind. Its “Dialogue with Scotland” program examined connections among Taiwan, Scotland and Canada, including shared histories of migration, colonization and efforts to preserve languages.
Programming included concerts, films, cultural talks, exhibitions, workshops, food and an artist market. The Nanwang Sisters performed Indigenous Pinuyumayan songs, while the TAIWANfest Orchestra was led by conductor Ken Hsieh and featured violinist Lynn Kuo.
Taiwanese band P!SCO brought funk, brass and electronic music to the stage. ZiXuan and Slow Train presented modern interpretations of traditional Hakka songs.
Other programs explored the influence of Scottish missionaries on health care and education in Taiwan, the use of music to preserve language and the ways cultural symbols can become stereotypes. A Hakka workshop led by Ted Liao used food, plants and personal memories to explore island culture.
The Thornhill team operated a booth during the event and spoke with local drivers, community leaders and other visitors. Simplicity Car Care is a Toronto-based collision repair network with more than 100 locations across Canada.
