
General Motors remained Canada’s electric vehicle sales leader through the first half of 2026, with Chevrolet Equinox EV, Chevrolet Bolt and Cadillac OPTIQ ranking among the country’s top 10 best-selling EVs, the company press release announced.
The Oshawa, Ont.-headquartered company reported that more than one in five EVs registered in Canada are GM vehicles and its EV sales increased 33.4% year-over-year through June.
"More than 65% of our EV buyers this year are new to Chevrolet, GMC or Cadillac, which shows that many Canadians are choosing GM for their first EV," said Shane Peever, vice-president of vehicle sales, service and marketing at GM Canada, in the press release.
GM sells 13 EVs across Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC. EV portfolio highlights from the first half of 2026 focus on Chevrolet’s affordability, Cadillac as the leader in luxury EV sales and accessible EV ownership.
According to GM officials, new customers were drawn to the brand by its Chevrolet EVs, with a 65% conquest rate in the first half of 2026. Equinox EV sales increased 12% year-over-year, and the Bolt’s return to market has driven month-over-month sales growth.
GM officials also notes that its Bolt LT currently offers Canada’s Lowest Cash Purchase Price for an EV that has over 400km of estimated range, starting from $34,995.
Cadillac continues as Canada’s leading luxury EV brand, making up 52.6% of the luxury EV segment. Sales increased 63.9% year-over-year, and the Cadillac OPTIQ and LYRIQ were ranked the number one and two selling luxury EVs in Canada, respectively.
