PPG Acquisition: Auto coatings company absorbs EMM

Ppg

Toronto, Ontario -- PPG Industries has completed the acquisition of EMM International, a Dutch paint preparation, application and workshop systems provider used by automotive refinish and industrial customers.

The transaction adds EMM’s brands — Colad, Finixa and Hamach — to PPG’s portfolio, extending its reach beyond coatings into tools, consumables and equipment used throughout the refinishing process.

Tim Knavish, chairman and CEO of PPG, described the acquisition as a strategic step in expanding the company’s value offering to paint professionals. “EMM brings highly complementary brands and deep expertise in paint application solutions that strengthen our ability to serve customers across the coatings value chain,” Knavish said in the announcement.

EMM International supplies products widely used in bodyshops, including masking systems, refinishing consumables, spray booths and extraction equipment. Its brands are distributed globally and are positioned around workflow efficiency, safety and consistent application quality.

Kees de Bruin, chief executive officer of EMM International, said the transaction positions the business for its next stage of growth. “Becoming part of PPG gives EMM access to global scale and resources while allowing us to continue focusing on innovation and customer support,” de Bruin said, adding that daily operations and customer relationships will remain unchanged.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
