Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island – Prince Edward Island has become the next province to remove Tesla vehicles from its electric vehicle rebate program.
According to online reports, the province made the decision to remove Tesla vehicles following a request from the P.E.I. Automobile Dealers Association.
While there are currently no Tesla dealerships in P.E.I., a news release in the province is reportedly urging citizens to consider purchasing from local options.
The current change applies to all purchases as of March 25, 2025. Any Tesla vehicles purchased before March 25 will still be eligible for the rebate.
With this decision, P.E.I. follows in the footsteps of Nova Scotia, Manitoba and British Columbia which have all recently decided to remove Tesla vehicles from provincial rebate programs.
As with the other provinces, for P.E.I., the decision to remove Tesla is a direct result of CEO Elon Musk’s participation in the United States government as well as the ongoing threat of tariffs.
