Toronto, Ontario – In this electric and autonomous vehicle report, the Government of Manitoba has announced plans to remove Tesla vehicles from EV rebate programs following tariff threats from the United States; while Mercedes-Benz announces a partnership with will.i.am’s A.I. radio technology.
Electric exclusions
The Government of Manitoba has announced that in response to the United States’ ongoing tariff threats, it will be removing Tesla vehicles from its electric vehicle rebate program.
The decision to remove Tesla was specifically announced during last Thursday’s provincial budget meeting.
The changes are part of “Trump-proofing our economy,” Finance Minister Adrien Sala announced in an official statement following the budget meeting.
“It’s part of our government’s commitment to be elbows up,” Sala originally told reporters during a budget briefing.
As a result, consumers who purchase a Tesla–or any other electric vehicle manufactured in China–will no longer be eligible for provincial rebates.
Automating audio
Mercedes-Benz has announced a partnership with FYI, the A.I.-powered platform founded by will.i.am to bring the A.I.-infused interactive media platform, FYI RAiDiO into its vehicles.
According to a recent press release, FYI RAiDiO specifically aims to revolutionize the traditional radio experience by offering a personalized and interactive audio experience.
To do this, FYI RAiDiO further aims to utilize advanced artificial intelligence to integrate third-party radio and broadcast stations and create personalized voice characters known as personas.
In the press release, Mercedes-Benz also announced that it is integrating conversational A.I. capabilities in its vehicles, including navigational and empathic dialogue assistance through Google Cloud’s Automotive A.I. and A.I.-driven knowledge features using ChatGPT Technology, among others.
