Winnipeg, Manitoba -- Brian Kaner has officially taken the helm as president and chief executive officer of the Boyd Group, the Winnipeg-based parent company of Assured Automotive, Boyd Autobody and Glass and Gerber Collision and Glass.
“I am honored to lead the Boyd Group. We are ready to leverage our unique position in North America," Kaner said. "We have the right people in the right roles with the right capabilities to build upon our success."
He succeeds Boyd's longtime leader Tim O’Day, who will remain with the company in an advisory role through the end of 2025. O’Day, who joined Gerber Collision and Glass in 1998, received praise from Kaner for leading Boyd's significant expansion across North America.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Tim for his excellent and unwavering leadership of Boyd over the last 27 years. It has been an absolute pleasure working with him," Kaner added.
Kaner's succession to the top job comes as no surprise to industry watchers. When he first joined Boyd in October 2022, it was as the executive vice-president and chief operating officer for the company's collision business. Last August, he was promoted president and COO.
Prior to joining Boyd, Kaner served as CEO and president of Pep Boys and Icahn Automotive Services, overseeing more than 1,000 company-owned locations as well as early 800 franchise locations. He also held the position of president at Sears Auto Centers.
