Toronto, Ontario -- AkzoNobel has named Fredrik Westin as its new chief financial officer. He will begin the role on Jan. 1, 2026.
Westin will succeed Maarten de Vries, who will retire in April 2026 after completing his second four-year term with the company.
In a statement, the company said Westin will join AkzoNobel from Autoliv, where he has been CFO since 2020. He has also held senior roles at Sandvik and Johnson Controls and has more than 25 years of experience in the industrial and automotive sectors.
“Fredrik is a seasoned financial leader with a proven track record of enhancing profitability, even in challenging markets,” said Ben Noteboom, chair of AkzoNobel’s supervisory board. “He is an ideal successor to Maarten, who has contributed significantly to AkzoNobel’s progress and performance over the past seven years.”
Chief executive Greg Poux-Guillaume said Westin brings a wealth of global and operational experience.
“He’s the perfect successor to deliver our mid-term targets and take the company to the next level of performance,” said Poux-Guillaume. “I’d also like to warmly thank Maarten for the tremendous partnership we’ve had. He has been a true asset to the company and will continue to serve as a strong support to Fredrik during the transition.”
Westin’s appointment is subject to shareholder approval at the company’s 2026 annual general meeting.
