A standalone automotive data company has been spun out of S&P Global Inc., moving CARFAX Canada under a new public parent company.

Mobility Global Inc., a Virginia automotive information, data and analytics company, began trading this month on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol MBGL.

CARFAX Canada, based in London, Ont., is now part of Mobility Global. The Canadian business was founded as CarProof in 2000 and became CARFAX Canada in 2018.

S&P Global Inc., a New York financial information and analytics company, previously held the automotive data business through its mobility division. That division has now been separated into Mobility Global.

The separation was completed through a share distribution to S&P Global shareholders. According to the release, shareholders received one Mobility Global share for every S&P Global share they held at the close of business on June 15, 2026.

The Mobility Global portfolio includes CARFAX, automotiveMastermind, Polk Automotive Solutions and Market Scan.

CARFAX provides vehicle history information, while automotiveMastermind provides sales and marketing tools for dealerships. Polk Automotive Solutions provides automotive market data. Market Scan provides payment, pricing and digital retailing tools.

CARFAX Canada provides vehicle history products in Canada. Its reports can include accident history, frame or structural damage, damage location, weather damage, repair estimates and costs, safety recalls and service history.

“For over 100 years, we have had the honour of serving the automotive industry,” said Bill Eager, chief executive officer of Mobility Global (pictured). “As Mobility Global, we continue our mission of providing trusted information that fuels better decisions in this fast-moving sector.”

Eager said Mobility Global’s brands provide information for automotive manufacturers, suppliers, dealers and consumers.

Matt Calderone, chief financial officer of Mobility Global, said the business begins from a “position of financial strength” and can now tailor its growth strategy, financial profile and investments to the mobility business.

Joe Hinrichs, chair of Mobility Global’s board, said “trusted information is essential” as decisions facing automotive manufacturers, dealers and suppliers become more complex.

The release did not announce changes to CARFAX Canada products, vehicle history reports or collision repair data collection.

The immediate change is corporate structure. CARFAX Canada is now part of Mobility Global, a public automotive data company, rather than part of S&P Global.
