Toyota will invest more than $300 million over the next three years to expand its Canadian operations.
The company is opening its purse strings to cover the cost of two planned expenditures, including a new head office in Toronto and two parts distribution centres in Western Canada.
The investment from Toyota Canada Inc. is aimed at improving parts distribution and dealer support across the country.
The 225,000-square-foot building new head office building will be built at 1 Toyota Place in Toronto, and consolidate the company's sales, marketing, distribution, service and training functions. Toyota Credit Canada, currently based in Markham, will also relocate to the site.
“Today’s announcement represents a significant investment in our future in Canada — our business, our people and our long-term success,” said Cyril Dimitris.
Dimitris said the project is intended to strengthen operations and support long-term growth.
Two parts distribution centres are planned for Surrey, B.C., and Calgary, Alta. The facilities will replace the existing western distribution centre in Richmond, B.C., and are expected to more than triple parts capacity in the region.
The Surrey facility is scheduled to open in December 2028 with about 210,000 square feet of operating space. The Calgary facility is expected to open in 2028 with about 220,000 square feet.
“This investment is part of Toyota’s ongoing commitment to Canada, creating spaces and operations that improve how we support our dealers and customers, encourage collaboration and enable continued growth across our business,” Dimitris said.
The new sites are located near major transportation routes and are expected to reduce delivery times to dealerships across Western Canada.
All three buildings are being designed to meet Canadian Green Building Council LEED v4 Gold and Net Zero Carbon Building – Design standards, along with Rick Hansen Foundation accessibility certification targets.
