Toronto, Ontario -- CCC Intelligent Solutions says more collision repairers are embracing artificial intelligence estimating tools — and it expects the trend to accelerate.

According to CCC’s Q2 earnings call, more than 5,000 repair facilities have adopted its Build Sheets tool since mid-2024. The tool uses AI to guide parts selection and integrate insurer guidelines into the estimating process. While early adopters were mostly multi-shop operators, CCC says independent shops are now accounting for the majority of new users.

Company chief-executive-officer Gitesh Ramamurthy also highlighted growing adoption of CCC’s Mobile Jumpstart platform, which allows shops to submit images for AI-generated estimate lines. CCC’s Visual Intelligence technology can pre-populate estimates directly from photos — helping shops get a head start on the repair plan.

Ramamurthy said he expects “a meaningful ramp in usage” over the coming months as insurers scale their deployment of CCC’s AI tools. Some are already using the technology for total loss determinations, audit support and supplement reviews.

More than 60 percent of estimates today require supplements, CCC noted. By applying insurer rules, its AI can often assist with — or automate — those workflows.

The company acknowledged a decline in overall claim volumes but attributed it to consumer behaviour shifts. Ramamurthy said drivers are choosing higher deductibles or skipping non-essential repairs due to inflation and rising premiums — not because of structural changes in the market.
