Toyota, Japan – According to Kyodo News, Toyota has once again been forced to halt production at its manufacturing facility in Toyota, Japan due to an explosion.
The explosion occurred on Thursday morning, killing one employee and injuring two other members on site.
As a result of the tragedy, Toyota has announced that it will suspend operations at three of its production lines in Japan until Tuesday, March 11.
The paused assembly plants specifically focus on the production of the automaker’s RAV4 and Harrier.
In response to the explosion, which is believed to have been caused by a dust collector, first responders reportedly needed three hours to stop the resulting fire.
The incident follows an explosion that occurred at the same plant in the fall of 2023, which affected 13 production lines at eight factories and took 10 days to resolve.
