Toronto, Ontario — Nissan has reportedly discussed plans to rethink a merger with Honda, two inside sources originally told Reuters on Wednesday.
This decision is a result of the relationship between the two automakers becoming increasingly complicated, with multiple inside sources further telling Reuters of growing differences creating division between the companies.
If the two automakers were to complete the proposed merger, this partnership would represent a $60-billion group, creating the world’s third-largest automaker group.
Nissan and Honda had initially planned to discuss future directions by the end of January, but this has since been pushed to mid-February.
