Building A New Blend: BASF replaces traditional certification process with blended learning approach

Toronto, Ontario — BASF has announced a new blended learning approach of online and in-person instruction to replace its previous two-day in-person training certification.

According to the company, the impetus for this change is to help reduce travel expenses and the time customers spend away from their shops.

Where before, customer certification involved two days of in-person training, with this change, customers will be able to replace one day of in-class instruction with online training.

The new online training portion consists of eight to 10 modules, with an assessment after each module instead of a final exam.

Once this mandatory online portion is completed, customers can then schedule their in-person class at a location of their choice from a list of available options.

During the in-person portion of the certification process, customers will receive face-to-face training and assessment.

Participants will have 45 days to complete this secondary part of training and can have access to their certificate of completion online as well.

Currently, this dual-format training is available for Glasurit and R-M courses.

“BASF aims to enhance customer experience with this move toward blended learning,” said Ralph Leija III, North America Training manager. “With 24/7 online access and accessible training, customers can get back on the shop floor quicker and start seeing success right away.”
