The Georgian College Auto Show is returning to the college’s Barrie campus June 5 to 7.
The annual event, which started in 1985, has grown into one of the largest student-run automotive events in North America. Organized entirely by students from the Automotive Business School of Canada, the show functions as both a public showcase and a large-scale experiential learning project for students preparing to enter the automotive sector.
This year’s theme, Beyond the Wheel, reflects a broader focus on industry innovation, networking and hands-on engagement rather than simply displaying vehicles. Organizers have confirmed participation from more than 17 manufacturers and 21 automotive brands, including Acura, Cadillac, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Subaru, Toyota, VinFast and Volvo.
The show has increasingly positioned itself as a window into the changing automotive industry. In recent years, organizers have added EV test experiences, micromobility displays featuring e-bikes and e-scooters, simulator activities and manufacturer-led demonstrations highlighting electrification and connected-vehicle technology.
Unlike a traditional retail auto show, Georgian’s event is promoted as a “non-selling” environment where visitors can interact with vehicles and ask questions without dealership pressure. Student organizers and volunteers staff the exhibits and attractions, giving them practical experience in sponsorship, logistics, media relations, operations and event marketing.
The scale of the event has expanded significantly in recent years. According to reporting from Canadian auto dealer, attendance at the 2024 show reached roughly 13,500 visitors, with organizers targeting 17,500 attendees for 2025.
Family-oriented programming remains a major component of the event. Planned attractions include a KidZone, mini dirt bikes, bouncy castles, scavenger hunts, food vendors and interactive activities. Previous editions have also featured drift-track rides in Porsche vehicles, dog shows and specialty supercar displays.
An online silent auction is also returning, with proceeds directed toward Automotive Business School of Canada student scholarships and awards.
The show will run rain or shine at Georgian College’s Barrie campus. Admission is $10, while children aged 12 and under will receive free entry. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
