Apprentices, skilled trades professionals and industry representatives will gather at the Toronto Congress Centre on Nov. 4 for the third annual Ontario Apprenticeship Summit.

Organized by Skilled Trades Ontario (STO), the summit will take place during National Skilled Trades and Technology Week under the theme “Advancing Trades. Accelerating Tomorrow.”

“The Ontario Apprenticeship Summit has become an important moment for our sector to come together, exchange ideas and chart a path forward,” said Candice White, chief executive officer of STO, in a press release. “Advancing trades and accelerating tomorrow means investing in the people.”

This year’s event will include an expanded awards presentation, with two new awards recognizing apprentices and workplace safety.

The Outstanding Apprentice Award will recognize apprentices in each of Ontario’s four regions. The Trades Safety Champion Award will also be presented for the first time.

The presentation will include the Minister’s Outstanding Journeyman Award and the STO Award of Excellence.

STO is an Ontario government agency responsible for apprenticeship and skilled trades certification.

Its mandate includes simplifying access to services for tradespeople, promoting skilled trades careers and working with government and industry to address labour shortages.
