“This award celebrates an outstanding woman who exemplifies leadership excellence in the automotive industry,” wrote WAN in a LinkedIn post. “A leader shaping the future through impact, innovation and the ability to inspire others, while championing progress and positive change.”

WAN is a platform dedicated to empowering women in the automotive industry.

The Women Automotive Leader of the Year Award is one of the two award categories sponsored by WAN at the 2026 AutoTech Awards. Nominations were open from February 12 to April 17, and the shortlist was announced on May 1. According to WAN, the Women Automotive Leader of the Year Award "recognizes a leader who is shaping the future through impact, innovation and the ability to inspire others, while championing progress and positive change."

The award was presented to King at the Women Automotive Summit in Detroit on June 2, 2026, whose gratitude was expressed in a video posted to WAN’s LinkedIn: “It’s an exceptional group of women that were nominated, and so I feel very honoured to win the award,” she said. “ For me, leadership is about building confidence and clarity in the midst of complexity, and this industry is undergoing so much transformation that helping be a piece of that, to help transform the industry, is truly an honour of mine.”
