Collision repair professionals can examine plastic repair products, repaired components and software during private appointments at Plasnomic’s ARIA Resort suite from Nov. 2 to 6.

Plasnomic is a U.S.-based automotive plastic repair research and training organization. Its work involves testing repair methods, developing technical guidance and preparing training and certification programs for technicians and collision repair centres.

Projects include examining how damaged bumper covers, textured trim, wheel arch mouldings and other plastic components can be repaired rather than replaced. The research covers materials, tools, repair quality, labour requirements and estimating procedures. The aim is to establish consistent repair methods that meet vehicle manufacturers’ requirements.

The 186-square-metre (2,000-square-foot) suite will feature product displays, plastic repair samples and a private 12-person boardroom. Invited guests can meet Plasnomic staff and members of its Plastic Repair Alliance Council to discuss repair technology, software, technician training and recruitment.

The council brings together specialists from collision repair businesses, insurers, vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and research organizations. Insurance representation includes expertise from Intact Insurance in Canada and State Farm, GEICO and Allstate in the United States.

Selected industry representatives will also receive an early look at findings from Plasnomic’s forthcoming white paper on automotive plastic repair. The research examines repair methods, technician skills, costs and barriers to repairing more components. Publication is planned for late November.

The work has expanded into “a much broader examination of how the collision industry approaches plastic repair—technically, operationally, economically and environmentally,” Mario Dimovski, Plasnomic president and council chair, said in a Sept. 17 press release.

The suite meetings coincide with the Specialty Equipment Market Association’s SEMA Show, an automotive aftermarket trade show running Nov. 3 to 6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Complimentary food and beverages will be provided at the suite. Invited attendees can also arrange complimentary transportation by texting +1 971-341-2255. A dedicated host will coordinate pickups and welcome guests.

Limited appointments remained when the announcement was posted. Industry professionals can submit their company details and preferred meeting time through Plasnomic’s registration form.
