Toronto, Ontario -- Dennis Carlini, owner of the Carlini Group MSO which operates five CARSTAR facilities in Southwestern Ontario, is competing in Dancing with Easter Seals Stars, Windsor on November 28.
"We're doing a [two-minute and fifty second] dance and I've been meeting with my partner, Dalyce McManus, once or twice a week to practice," Carlini says, adding, "I'm feeling anxious about performing in front of so many people, but this is for a cause that is close to my heart -- it is an amazing organization that has helped my family over the years."
The event, organized by Easter Seals Ontario, pairs local business and community leaders with professional dancers for dance competitions held across the province. It also includes a cocktail hour and celebrity meet-and-greet, followed by a plated dinner, silent auction and live dance performances judged by a panel.
For Carlini, the cause is personal — Easter Seals has supported his now-grown son, Lucas. The elder Carlini is entering the competition with the backing from his network, several of its business partners and the local community. CARSTAR donate $2500 to the cause.
While there are just a few tickets left for the event, supporters still have the opportunity to donate through the charity voting system. Voting is curently open and will close Following the competition. People may pay $20 to vote for a winner of the People's Choice Award.
So far, Carlini's supporters have pledged a grand total of $15,645.00 -- or 785 votes -- in his favour. He has also pledged to match the first $5,000 raised, which would bring his total above $20,000, excluding corporate sponsorships.
"I will don sequins, embrace my inner performer and attempt to dance my way to the People’s Choice Award,” Carlini says. “The more votes I receive, the better my chances — and, more importantly, the more people Easter Seals can support."
