Victoria, British Columbia – B.C. Hydro is reportedly excluding Tesla and Tesla-related products from its provincial rebate program in response to the ongoing threat of tariffs.

Notably, the Crown utility noted in a recent statement that going forward, it will be giving preference in its rebate program to Canadian goods, while excluding, “where practicable, U.S.-produced goods.”

As a result, as of Wednesday, Tesla products such as EV chargers, energy storage batteries and inverters, are no longer eligible for Clean B.C. and B.C. Hydro rebates.

However, according to online reports, drivers who purchased or were pre-approved for a Tesla before March 12 can still qualify.

The Crown utility’s rebate program covers up to 50 percent of the purchase and installation costs for a home charger, up to a maximum of $350.
