Toronto, Ontario – In life, some say that you should always be moving forward. However, when you do need to look in the rear-view, be sure to be weary of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander.

Mitsubishi has voluntarily recalled nearly 60,000 of its 2022 Outlander vehicles due to a defect in the software that transmits rear-view camera images.

“Due to external electrical noise or voltage fluctuation, the A-IVI may not receive an image signal from the rear view camera, potentially resulting in a black screen displaying on the A-IVI,” states the Product Safety report from the NHTSA. The A-IVI is Mitsubishi’s Infotainment system.

Vehicles affected by the recall were made between February 2021 and April 8th 2022. Vehicles manufactured from April 9th onward already contain updated software.

Vehicle owners can get new software installed by their local Mitsubishi dealerships free of charge.

Mitsubishi has stated that they will begin notifying owners by August 1st, with dealers being notified by July 18th

This is the third recall for the Outlander this year, representing the largest number of vehicles affected.

Mitsubishi is unaware of any injuries or accidents caused by the issue.
