Up to No Hood: Nissan recalls 323,000 Pathfinders for potential hood obstruction

Untitled design (1)

Toronto, Ontario- The Nissan SUVs affected by the recall come from model years 2013 to 2016. The defect itself occurs due to the buildup of dust and dirt on the vehicle’s secondary hood latch system. This can result in the hood itself opening and blocking the driver’s view while operating the vehicle.

While Nissan has issued a recall on nearly 325,000 Pathfinders, they estimate that only 0.44 percent of vehicles suffer from the condition.

Nissan says it will administer letters to all affected vehicle owners by August 3, 2022. These letters will contain detailed instructions on how owners can inspect the hood lock system themselves. If the hood latch is not defective, owners can then clean/repair the part per instructions in the owner’s manual.

Owners are also given the option of taking their vehicles to their local Nissan dealership where the part will be inspected and/or replaced free of charge.

Nissan is currently working on a solution to the problem. Vehicles owners will be notified by letter once a resolution has been reached.
