The Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association will host a webinar on May 7 focused on how blockchain technology is being applied in the insurance sector, particularly in claims processing.
The free, one-hour session, titled the evolution of blockchain and how insurers are leveraging the technology, is scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT and will feature Eric Phillips, senior director of product operations at The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative.
The webinar will outline the evolution of blockchain and examine how insurers are currently using the technology, including its role in enabling real-time claims data exchange. According to Phillips, that capability supports earlier claim identification and more efficient information sharing across stakeholders.
“It’s incredibly exciting to see blockchain technologies move beyond concept and into production, solving real-world business challenges that the industry has long faced,” Phillips said. “Innovations like these are unlocking tremendous value and building greater confidence across the ecosystem. We look forward to exploring how this evolution is reshaping the future at the upcoming webinar.”
Phillips is responsible for developing multiparty technology solutions for RiskStream member companies and serves as lead product owner for the RAPID X auto claims data exchange platform.
Before joining The Institutes in 2023, he spent nine years with GEICO in roles across property-casualty claims, including work related to fraud, litigation management and customer service.
