Hamilton, Ontario — October 10, 2013 — Hamilton Police Service is requesting assistance from members of the auto claims economy to find a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident.
On Saturday October 5, 2013 at approximately 3:25 a.m., a dark grey 2009 Toyota Corolla or Matrix was traveling south in the curb lane of Garth Street in Hamilton, Ont.
The vehicle lost control and mounted the curb south of Sanatorium Rd. and struck three of four teenage pedestrians traveling in the same direction on the sidewalk. One teenager, who suffered severe injuries to his legs and face, had been riding a longboard beside his friends when he was struck from behind.
The impacts caused damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle, as well as tearing off the passenger side mirror assembly which remains a police exhibit. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was last seen westbound on Mohawk Road West.
A statement from Hamilton Police Service says there is no doubt that additional front end damage exists to either the front lighting assembly, and or windshield, as well as damage to the front passenger side itself. Toyota has examined the mirror assembly and confirmed the make and model as either a 2009 Toyota Corolla XRS, LE or S, or a 2009 Toyota Matrix XR or XRS. The vehicle is painted in Magnetic Grey (1G3).
