Ford’s pickup pick-up

Toronto, Ontario — April 10, 2019 —

Ford is recalling more than 300,000 F-150 and Super Duty pickup trucks across North America, of which 196,000 are owned by Canadians.

After receiving two reports of apparantly spontaneous vehicle fires, one which occured in Canada, the OEM announced it had discovered the likely source of the problem–cable splice connectors in pickups that, if damaged in routine service procedures, posed a fire hazard.

It isn’t just the slim risk of unexpected vehicle combustion. The OEM says other problems related to the wiring issue include engine block failure and melted vehicle wiring.

Unfortunately for the drivers of the affected drivers, this recall is the second one to apply to their vehicles in just five months.

In December, both models were swept up in an even larger recall.
