Founded in 1993 and based in Ingleside, Ontario, the family-owned company has increasingly focused on the evolving risks facing auto recyclers as electric and hybrid vehicles enter the dismantling stream.

M&L Supply provides virtually everything found on a fire truck — except the truck itself. Its product range includes personal protective equipment, fire hose, nozzles, suppression tools, rescue equipment, and specialized safety systems. Many members of the company’s sales and service team are current or former firefighters, bringing practical, frontline experience to customer support. “We know firsthand the types of environments our equipment is being used in — high-stress, time-sensitive, and often unpredictable,” says Sales Specialist Brian Honey. “That experience reduces trial-and-error purchasing and allows us to build trust with the end user.”

A major focus for M&L Supply in 2026 is E-FireX, a PFAS-free fire suppression agent designed specifically for lithium-ion battery fires. Available in handheld extinguisher formats and larger fire-service applications, E-FireX rapidly cools batteries, reducing the risk of thermal runaway. Brian has witnessed live demonstrations in which battery temperatures dropped dramatically within seconds of application. “Pull the pin, aim and discharge, but instead of powder, it’s a thicker liquid that seeks out heat and encapsulates the battery,” he explains.

M&L Supply is also introducing Obexion FR, a complementary solution designed to safely manage batteries after a fire. The system targets all three elements of the fire triangle — heat, oxygen, and fuel — extracting heat and releasing water to cool the battery and prevent re-ignition. Brian describes the two products as a layered approach to lithium-ion risk, from suppression to stabilization.

The need for preparedness is growing. The Toronto Transit Commission’s recent winter ban on e-bikes — except for food and package delivery — highlights the potential hazards of battery fires in urban and industrial settings. Brian notes that employees increasingly expect safe working conditions, and having the right equipment and protocols builds confidence and trust.

Beyond product offerings, M&L Supply emphasizes after-sales service, training, demonstrations, and manufacturer feedback. “Success isn’t just about having the right products; it’s about how you support, educate, and partner with your customers to build strong, lasting business relationships,” Honey says.

With deep field experience, technical expertise, and a focus on emerging EV risks, M&L Supply Fire & Safety continues to position itself as a knowledgeable and dependable partner for auto recyclers navigating the next phase of vehicle technology.
