Automotive recyclers from four western provinces will gather in Calgary later this month for the first Western Canada Auto Recycling Show.
The event will run Sept. 25 and 26 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Calgary North. The Automotive Recyclers of Canada is organizing the show with the Alberta Automotive Recyclers & Dismantlers Association, BC Auto Recyclers, the Saskatchewan Auto Recyclers Association and the Automotive Recyclers of Manitoba. AARDA is serving as the host association.
The show is the first regional event of its kind in Western Canada. Its programme combines a facility tour, industry training, an insurance and operations roundtable, a trade show and meetings involving provincial and national association representatives.
Activities begin Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with an open house and yard tours at PRO Auto Recyclers in Irricana, Alta.
The programme moves to Calgary at 2 p.m. for a two-hour roundtable covering insurance and operational issues. The discussion is intended to bring recyclers and other industry representatives together to examine the market and operating challenges facing recycling businesses.
ARC’s board of directors will meet from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A welcoming reception and trade show will follow from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
AARDA will hold its annual meeting from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sept. 26. Morning and afternoon training sessions will feature keynote speaker JC Cahill of VINMatchPro and John F. Cahill Consulting.
VINMatchPRO compares vehicle identification numbers using original equipment build data. The company reports coverage for more than 90% of vehicles produced for the U.S. market, with enhanced decoding available for vehicles without original equipment build data.
The Sept. 26 programme also includes lunch, followed by a reception, dinner and entertainment from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Current trade show exhibitors include Car-Part.com, Hollander, Buddy Automotive Innovations and VINMatchPRO. Copart Canada and IAA will represent the salvage-auction sector.
Other exhibitors include ELV Select Equipment, Cowan Insurance Brokers, BAAN Powertrain Corp., QRP Canada, Inland Steel Products, PMR Inc. and Scrap Metal Auction Sales Hub.
The businesses cover vehicle auctions, yard and inventory software, engines and transmissions, recycled-parts distribution, recycling equipment, insurance, scrap processing and catalytic converter recovery.
