Lethbridge, Alberta — Presented in partnership with Career Transitions, Lethbridge Polytechnic has announced the development of a dual-credit program in order to provide high school students with better access to the trades.
As noted in a recent press release from the institution, the newly developed 15-week course program highlights all trades programs currently offered at Lethbridge College, including, but not limited to: automotive service technician, heavy equipment technician and parts technician.
For these programs, the course format is a combination of asynchronous and in-person learning, where students will review theory online and then visit the campus for hands-on application under the direction of Centre for Trades faculty.
In total, participating high school students will visit the college eight times during the semester.
“This course is an amazing collaboration with school divisions and industry,” said Sheldon Anderson, Dean, Centre for Trades in the release. “We are helping students explore as many different trade opportunities as possible in a practical way. Students will be able to identify a career path earlier in life, which can lead to advancement opportunities in their chosen field earlier than ever before.”
