Revv releases free online ADAS information kit designed to help collision repair staff explain advanced driver assistance systems and calibration requirements to vehicle owners.
The New York-based ADAS workflow software company launched its ADAS Explainer Kit on Aug. 12. It includes a short staff training video, a one-page How to Explain ADAS in 30 Seconds reference sheet and a brochure for customers.
The material explains where common ADAS components are located and why repairs can trigger calibration requirements. Cameras may be mounted behind windshields, while radar and blind-spot sensors can sit behind front and rear bumpers.
The kit also identifies windshield replacement, wheel alignment, suspension work, mirror replacement and bumper removal among operations that can require calibration, depending on the vehicle manufacturer's procedures.
The customer material explains that calibration makes sure cameras and sensors are aimed correctly. It notes that a misaligned sensor may not trigger a dashboard warning and distinguishes between static calibrations, performed with the vehicle stationary, and dynamic calibrations, which require the vehicle to be driven under specified conditions.
The kit also provides answers to common customer questions, including why calibration is necessary, how repairers determine when it is required, how long it takes and whether insurance may cover the work.
“Our goal is for Revv to be a hub for ADAS education, and these resources make sure knowledge doesn't stop at the shop floor, but reaches the customers our shops serve every day so they feel safer and more informed,” said Adi Bathla, CEO and co-founder of Revv.
The launch follows Revv's addition of on-demand ADAS training through the United ADAS Collective.
