Toronto, Ontario — If you weren’t feeling the winter chill setting in just yet you will soon as General Motors announced that they will be cutting heated seats from some of their models due to the ongoing microchip shortage.

According to reports from Friday, GM confirmed that some 2022 Chevrolet and GMC trucks, cars and SUVs will not be equipped with the highly coveted butt-warming technology, as the global auto industry continues trudging through a severe materials shortage.

“Our teams are exploring ways to potentially retrofit vehicles with some of these features once parts become available. We will provide additional updates when available,” GM said in a statement.

“Although the situation remains complex and very fluid, we remain confident in our team’s ability to continue finding creative solutions to minimize the impact of the semiconductor shortages that have been impacting the industry.”
