
Autel is launching the MaxiHVAC AC909D, a diagnostic and service system that combines refrigerant handling, leak testing and live vehicle data for automotive air conditioning and thermal management systems.
The system is designed for electronically controlled A/C systems, hybrids, EVs and advanced heat-pump systems. Thermal management in those vehicles can include cooling for batteries, power electronics and onboard computers as well as cabin heating and cooling.
“We didn’t set out to build another A/C machine. We set out to give technicians a better way to understand and diagnose the entire HVAC system,” said Gary DeLuca, corporate strategist at Autel.
The AC909 tablet combines live refrigerant pressures with temperature, humidity, airflow, electrical and vehicle sensor information on a single graphical display. Guided procedures cover compressors, evaporators, condensers, metering devices and system restrictions.
The AC909D package includes a MaxiFlash vehicle communication interface, four-port manifold with a backlit sight glass, refrigerant scale, compressor box, Bluetooth temperature clamps and Bluetooth temperature and humidity probes.
Autel has also included a NAVAC Bluetooth vacuum pump and digital micron gauge. Live micron measurements are sent to the tablet, allowing technicians to confirm moisture removal and perform automated vacuum-decay testing rather than relying solely on evacuation time.
The package also includes a nitrogen regulator, refrigerant and vacuum hoses, fittings and service couplings and adapters for R134a and R1234yf refrigerants.
Students at Pittsburg State University in Kansas tested the system in May on vehicles with both properly functioning and poorly performing HVAC systems.
“Bringing all this data into one screen in the AC909 is going to make A/C diagnostics faster and more efficient,” said Scott Norman, professor and automotive technology program co-ordinator at Pittsburg State University.
Autel is accepting orders for the AC909D, with shipments expected to begin by the end of September.
